Barry Lopez will speak at Benaroya Hall in Seattle on Wednesday, April 7th at 7:30 p.m.(doors open at 6:45). Best known for his book,
Arctic Dreams, Lopez is also the author many essays, short stories, and several works of fiction and non-fiction including

Winter Count, About This Life, Resistance,
Crow and Weasel,
Desert Notes,
The Rediscovery of North America, and
Apologia. One of my favorite non-fiction works of Lopez is
Home Ground: Language for an American Landscape which put an end to my feeling bad about the paucity of terms for "snow" in English. Lopez writes books you want to devour--books that address issues of landscape, intimacy, ethics, identity, environmentalism, and humanitarianism.
The lecture is presented by Seattle Arts and Lectures and the North Cascades Institute.
